My first child was born May 16, 2018. Cameo Sherman was my family’s doula. I feel like saying she did an amazing job does her a disservice. Cameo was better than amazing. She knew when to intervene, when to step-back, and when to say something encouraging to my wife. Cameo also made sure to check on me and my mother-in-law. She made sure we all ate and drank water. This was the best moment of my life, and Cameo played a significant role in it. The Davis family is forever indebted for the service Cameo Sherman provided.

For my first birth I knew I wanted an Unmedicated water birth, I knew I needed to find a Doula who could help educate and encourage me throughout my pregnancy to accomplish my goal, I’m so grateful we found Cameo. I don’t think we could have found a more perfect match. Cameo has a contagious personality, is so kind and caring and we knew right away how much she loved this job of assisting in bringing babies earth side. Cameo provided both my husband and I piece of mind during every visit, and filled both of us with confidence that we would be prepared to bring our Daughter into the world. The night I went into labor Cameo came to our house before the birth center which really helped, we may have left sooner if it wasn’t for her. At the birth center, she was always at my side, holding my hand encouraging me, giving hip squeezes, and helping my Husband stay calm knowing everything was going as it should and soon we would be meet our Luna. I would recommend Cameo in a heartbeat, she was the calm and patience I needed. She had a way of making me feel like a warrior during my labor, and most importantly I loved how she always found a way to include my husband! Thank you so much Cameo!!!

Cameo was amazing! Words can't even describe the blessing she was for my husband and I during my labor and delivery. Cameo was fabulous! We found her about 2 weeks prior to our daughter's birth, and thank goodness we did! She was such a wonderful addition to our birth experience. In those last weeks, she recommended useful resources and answered all the last minute questions that popped up as the due date approached. During labor, she played an invaluable role as soother and encourager-in-chief. My dear husband, while superbly cool under pressure, just didn't know what to say to help during labor - and Cameo filled that very important void! Cameo has had a variety of birth experiences personally, which makes her an excellent labor coach who does not pass any judgement about what interventions you do or do not want to have. When I made the decision to have an epidural, she was completely supportive and continued to offer advice on how to keep labor progressing. She's the best!

Written by my boyfriend for the both of us but I must say in my own words how much of a better birthing experience I had this time around (my first was a c-section) with Cameo. I should start this by stating I was 100% against the idea of having a doula with my girlfriend and me when our son came into this world, I mean the thought of some stranger being in the room with us was just weird to me…but that quickly changed. When I first met Cameo I was tired and hungry, I wasn’t in much of a talking mood, so I listened to the conversation between herself and my girlfriend Camri and tried to chime in when I could. Immediately I could sense that Cameo was a nice and cheerful person which was perfect because I like people who give off a positive vibe. After that first meeting with Cameo I was a little more at ease, the next time I would see Cameo was the 8th of January when my girlfriend went into labor. Right away when we saw Cameo she was all smiles and asking Camri how she felt and if there was anything she felt would help her to be more comfortable. Cameo even asked me if I was doing okay which made me feel included, I mean who really cares about the father in this moment? It’s usually all about mommy. Cameo's techniques were interesting and helped tremendously every step of the way. She helped my girlfriend with every contraction, she encouraged her to be strong, she kept telling her to have positive thoughts, and barely left her side. Cameo was there for us from 9:30 in the morning until 1:30 the next morning. Cameo did so much for my girlfriend and I during labor that we will forever be grateful for everything she did.

Cameo was the first doula my husband and I interviewed. I contacted her and she emailed me back within a few hours and was able to meet us the next day. She was quick response and very informative from the very begging to the end. We took a birth class at the hospital but we learned so much more from her.
I had some minor issues in my late pregnancy, nothing big but as a first time mom, small things made me worried. When I asked her questions or her opinions, she always responded me with additional informations. That made me feel better in addition to asking my OB/midwife.
She said that the labor is a mind game and I agree. To me, not knowing what is happening was the most scary part. The best part of having doula for me was I had someone who can talk to when I wasn't sure things are normal or not. That was the same case with my husband. When I was in early labor at home, he kept texting back and forth with Cameo so he was calm the whole time and that made me calm too.
She joined us at the hospital and she was great. She used the rebozo to ease the pressure on my belly, made sure I eat and go to bathroom. I am a pretty private person so I needed a quiet environment and wanted to have a special moment with my husband. Cameo never overstepped between me and my husband but really helped to achieve our goal.
After my son was born, all the attention tended to go to him but she stayed by my side and made sure I was okay. She also helped me to do the first breastfeeding.
Some of my friends have regrets from their birth experiences but mine became just like I imagined and I am pretty proud of myself. I couldn't have done that without Cameo.

I had a wonderful experience with Cameo. I wanted an unmedicated VBAC for my second birth. I only had a year between pregnancies and I knew I would need the extra guidance and support during labor. Cameo provided plenty of resources for my husband and I to explore all throughout my pregnancy. We borrowed books from her library and she even helped me find an amazing chiropractor. Her support empowered me, and kept me in a positive mindset so that I could achieve my goal. Because of Cameo's support, I felt in control during my labor and I got the exact birth experience I wanted. 2 weeks post-partum I still feel thrilled about it. I'm so happy to have found Cameo and would recommend her to anyone, but especially to people going for a VBAC.

I was very nervous about giving birth naturally. The unknown of what it was going to be like was very scary to me. I love my husband and he was doing a lot to help with preparing, but we both knew that we did not know if he would be able to give me the support I needed during labor! So this is when we decided that getting a Doula would be our best bet! Cameo was recommended to us by Lauren, our birth class instructor! We interviewed a couple Doulas’, but I knew right away after meeting Cameo that she was the one I wanted there with me during the birth of my baby! Cameo has such a fun and loving personality! She made me feel so comfortable right off the bat! I always felt happy and calm every time I was around her! All of those things carried right over to my labor and delivery! I was able to contact Cameo as much as I needed. So was my family. When I went into labor my sister was in contact with Cameo the whole time telling her how everything was going that way Cameo knew when the best time was for her to come and help. Cameo was wonderful to have there because she kept me calm and provided the right relief in the right places and continued to tell me how amazing I was! She is a wonderful Doula and I highly recommend her to every woman that is having a baby! Thank you Cameo for be so amazing to me and my family!

My partner and I had an absolutely amazing experience with Cameo as our doula for the birth of our son. My partner was overseas for most of my pregnancy and Cameo was a real life line during that time. She shared a number of really useful resources and is very knowledgeable about techniques and tools for getting everything prepared for birth as well as dealing with labor. An added bonus. she is super fun to talk to and spend time with! Our birth plan ended up changing for a number of reasons but there was never any judgement from Cameo, just support and encouragement. I spiked a fever during delivery and she, along with my partner, stood there fanning me off for what seemed like hours! It sounds like a small thing but it made a huge difference at the time. I had a longish labor and she was there the entire time until our son was born, offering support and encouragement. My partner, who was initially very skeptical about the idea of a doula, ended up being her biggest advocate and even introduced our son to her as an important part of his birth! If there's another child in our future, we're definitely hiring Cameo again. If you are on the fence, don't be, hire Cameo - she was worth every penny and more.

​Working with Cameo was such an amazing experience.  She truly was a breath of fresh air for me during my pregnancy because she truly cares for her clients . Her calming spirit and nurturing demeanor was such a help to me during my labor.  She is extremely knowledgeable and resourceful on topics that I needed assistance with before and after birth.  Additionally, her blog is both informative and humorous.  During my labor, she worked to not only provide hands on techniques to ease my contractions but also made my labor team feel included each step of the way by showing them things that they could do to aid in the process as well.  I remember feeling so blessed in my decision to have a doula especially once the baby was born and everyone was focused on the baby and I looked up and saw Cameo's face still next to me making sure that I was ok and reassuring me how well I did.  I will definitely use Cameo again!  P.S. Ask her nicely to bake some lactation cookies!!!  They are awesome :)

I asked Cameo to be my doula very late in my pregnancy because I wanted to have a VBAC and felt I could use some additional support. From the moment I met her, I felt comfortable with her and knew she would be a calming presence during my natural laboring process. She was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable during my 26 hour labor, and stayed by my side and remained encouraging and continued to provide hands on support, even though she must have been exhausted. While the delivery did not end up the way I had hoped due to my baby's position, I made it as far as I did due to Cameo's support. As an added bonus, she is incredibly knowledgeable about breastfeeding. I highly recommend her as a doula.

As a first time mom, I was somewhat scared of the "unknown" of labor and delivery. My husband would be there, but I felt like we needed additional support and experience. Not only was Cameo there for us every step of the way, but she was a very calming presence for me during my labor in the hospital. She was always there offering me something to drink and a honey stick, applying counterpressure to my back, or even just holding my hand so I could squeeze it during contractions. When it was all over and I had a beautiful baby boy, she stayed a few hours longer so she could help me nurse him for the first time in the NICU. My husband even admitted to me that although he wasn't convinced we needed a doula back when I had hired her, he was so happy to have had her there - to help him know what to do, to help me when he needed some sleep, and as a calming presence for the both of us. I will definitely hire her again when I have my next baby - I can't recommend her services enough!

This was my fourth birth and I had regrets about each of my previous ones--whether C-sections, medications, complications, or other interventions. I had always hoped to have an all-natural, unmedicated birth. Cameo was a tremendous help in achieving that goal. She gave me information on local chiropractic care and acupuncture to help my body be in optimal condition for labor. She also introduced me to the spinning babies website to help the baby get in a good position and encourage labor to go quickly and smoothly. Sure enough, labor was quick (less than 8 hours from start to finish and less than 5 hours of active labor) and the baby's heart rate was reassuring through the entire process. The pain was still pretty intense, but Cameo helped keep it manageable by providing encouragement, counter-pressure, and hip-squeezes. She also lent me a TENS unit, which seemed to help. I never felt that I absolutely had to have an epidural like I did with previous labors. It was so nice being able to push in whatever position worked best and being completely alert for the birth, which would not have been the case with medication. Our beautiful daughter came out with absolutely no tearing, and the joy of seeing her and holding her in my arms erased any memory of the pain. We are so glad we had Cameo to help us on this journey and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

For my second birth I knew I wanted to have a doula present, after I felt helpless during the first one. Cameo has been a great help since the moment we met! She helped us communicate positively with the medical staff, she was supportive and reassuring. Her help before the birth itself exceeded my expectations. Cameo addressed any question or potential fear I had with empathy and suggested ways to cope and prepare for the birth. When the contractions began, Cameo was the first one I messaged (allowing my husband to continue sleeping). She was very relaxed, allowing me to keep calm as well. During the birth Cameo enabled the quiet space for me and my husband to be together during each contraction. He was the person I felt safe with and she recognized it and facilitated it by giving him the confidence of taking the supportive role while she helped with lower back pain during each contraction. During the transition stage I felt like I couldn't do it anymore but the encouraging words of both Cameo and my husband helped me keep going. I would not have the same experience had Cameo was not my doula. Thank you Cameo!
